Last September, I had an amazing time photographing Lauren and Casey’s Southern California Wedding at the Redondo Beach Historic Library in Redondo Beach, CA. This couple was such a blast to work with. Casey was hamming it up for the cameras the whole day and Lauren was such a stunning bride!
Lauren and Casey’s Redondo Beach Historic Library Wedding
The Redondo Beach Historic Library combines Spanish and Dutch colonial styles in appearance. In 1925 The old Hotel Redondo was demolished and the library was built on that very site! Designed by noted architect, Lovel Bearse Pemberton, the iconic structure was completed in 1930 and served as the main library for Redondo for the next 60 years. In 1981, it was finally placed on National Register of Historic Places and today, people come from around the country to celebrate weddings and other events inside of its storied walls.
The first look photos between Lauren and Casey were so precious. Casey’s reaction to Lauren coming out of the library front doors was priceless. He was floored by her beauty and they took a moment just to savor the moment.
The Library has a beautiful giant fig tree right outside that is also a noted landmark. It was locked and gated up, so we had to get the key from the venue, but it was a lot of fun taking photos with the wedding party in front of it.
We also had a lot of fun taking the wedding party down to the beach for a little game of volleyball. Lauren and Casey are both huge fans of the game and play regularly, so sneaking that little moment into the photos was a great addition to the day.
Redondo Beach Wedding Reception | Amy Theilig Photographic
After the beautiful ceremony outside, it was time to get the party started. My 2nd Shooter, Julianne helped me capture a lot of the detail shots for the cocktail hour and reception. The whole set up they had was gorgeous and I loved all of the little details! There were photos of the Bride and Groom all over the shelves where library books would normally be. Just lovely little moments of them together throughout their relationship. For the seating arrangements, they were using one of the old catalogs from the library and everyone had to take a card to find their seat. I thought that was a lovely touch and definitely played to the esthetic of the library.
Lauren and Casey are actually from Texas, so Lauren got one of her favorite home town restaurants to bring in some food just for her! I thought that was a great way of bringing a little piece of Texas with them. The live band was great, too. They really helped to keep feet on the dance floor and the wedding party was tearing it up the whole night!
All in all, this was a really well thought out wedding. There were plenty of gorgeous moments between the Bride and Groom and of course, plenty of laughter. Lauren and Casey, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your amazing wedding. I had such a blast behind the lens getting to photograph your big day! I wish you all the best in this new chapter of your lives! Cheers, you guys!
